NSO CONCLUDES ANNIVERSARY WITH HEALTH CHECK

The 71st  NSO anniversary culminated with a medical check-up to all personnel on August 31, 2011 at the regional office. A mobile clinic of the  HealthCheck and Diagnostic Center conducted the activity.

A first ever 2010 survey of energy consumption of establishments (SECE) that aims to provide specific data in order to generate useful indicators to measure the levels and trends of energy consumption by sector for the country.

In general, data to be collected for the 2010 SECE include the quantity of fuels, other fossil and biomass fuels purchased. Value by type of energy products purchased, inventories by fuel type and the end-use of energy shall also be collected. Sectoral energy intensities are to be derived and to be broadly classified in to industrial, service/commercial, transport and agricultural.

The Department of Energy (DOE) shall be the major data user of the survey results. Hence, consultation with DOE and its attached agencies were undertaken in the determination of data items to be collected and the indicators to be generated.

NSO Provincial Officers currently undergo second level training on SECE at the processing room of NSO 10 and field operations will begin this September and ends on December 2011.

NSO 10 ANNIVERSARY DAY ACTIVITIES


The 71st NSO anniversary day on August 19, 2011 started off with a Thanksgiving mass at 7 o’clock in the morning, celebrated by Father Fermin Tan of  Barangay Gusa Parish.

 Staff of NSO Misamis Oriental and Regional offices went to the House of Hope bringing provisions and gifts to the 55 patients with mental incapacitation. The facility is run by Sister Felicisima Daquinitas of the order of the Religious of the Virgin Mary (RVM).


An eventful athletic activity happened in the afternoon at the Marco Polo Sports complex in Cugman.

A community group in Barangay Canitoan, Cagayan de Oro City led by its president Mr. Henry Reyes (in photo, right, besides Dr. Aves with NSO 10 Staff) became the recipient of the outreach program of the National Statistics Office done every Anniversary celebration. 

Canitoan Kagawad Noel Taboclaon (inset with goods at the background), delivered the welcome address to NSO 10.

NSO 10 Regional Director Salvador A. Aves’ program geared towards maintaining the ecological balance of nature is again put into action with the yearly Tree Planting at the Capitol University farm lot in Lumbia. This event coincides with the month long NSO anniversary celebration this August.

Solemnizing Officers Converge for 7NCSO

More than a thousand solemnizing officers from various religious sects and denominations, members of the judiciary, city/municipal mayors and city/municipal civil registrars and other stakeholders are expected to gather on August 2-4, 2011 at Ilocos Norte Hotel and Convention Center in Laoag City for the conduct of the 7th National Convention of Solemnizing Officers (7NCSO). 

With the theme "Quality Civil Registration in Support of the National Development Goals", the Convention aims to provide a venue for sharing of experiences and exchange of ideas on various issues and concerns on implementation of marriage laws and registration procedures. The topics lined up include Updates on Marriage Registration and Marriage Laws and Experiences of Civil Registrars and Solemnizing Officers on Marriage Registration, among others. 
The 7NCSO is the seventh in a series of national conventions of solemnizing officers organized by the National Statistics Office and is being held every two years. The first one was undertaken in 1999 in Cagayan de Oro City while the last one was held in 2009 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City. 

Participants of this year's convention will be charged a fee of P3,600 to cover the costs of the venue, food, materials and other related expenses. Interested parties are requested to contact Ms. Editha R. Orcilla, Chairperson of the Program and Invitation Committee at telephone number (02) 926-1075 or via email at E.Orcilla@census.gov.ph. NSO OF REGION 10 TURNS 71 IN AUGUST 2011

The National Statistics Office of Region 10 – Northern Mindanao celebrates its 71st anniversary on August 19, 2011, commences at the flag ceremony at the NSO 10 grounds on August 1, 2011. During the event the Administrative Section presented an ethnic dance, launching of the 71st balloons and awarding free security papers (Sec. Pa.) to senior citizens. A month – long series of events and activities including issuances of Free SEC PA will be given to senior citizens and lucky clients every flag Ceremony on Mondays this August.

The National Statistics Office was first called Bureau of the Census and Statistics (BCS) when Commonwealth Act no. 591 was approved on August 19, 1940. Presidential Decree No. 418 issued on March 20, 1974 reconstituted the BCS into a new agency known as the National Census and Statistics Office (NCSO) under the administrative supervision of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA). In 1987, by virtue of Executive Order No. 121 entitled “Reorganizing and Strengthening the Philippine Statistical System and for Other Purposes,” the NCSO was renamed National Statistics office and was placed under the Office of the President.
