NSO JOINS INTERNATIONAL COASTAL CLEAN-UP

Regional Director Salvador A. Aves and personnel of the Administrative section went to Barangay Bayabas on this Saturday morning.

Shoreline countries of the world conducted a simultaneous coastal clean-up on September 17, 2011. On this day, NSO of Region 10 joined the international event by conducting a community outreach clean-up drive program for Cagayan de Oro barangays.

The employment rate in April 2011 Labor Force Survey (LFS) was estimated at 92.8 percent, slightly higher than the figure reported in April last year at 92.0 percent.

Among the 17 administrative regions, the National Capital Region (NCR) registered the lowest employment rate of 88.4 percent. The regions that posted high employment rates in April 2011 were Zamboanga Peninsula at 96.8 percent, Cagayan Valley, 96.7 percent, Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), 96.3 percent, MIMAROPA, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, and SOCCSKSARGEN, each registering a rate of 96.0 percent.

Out of the estimated 61.8 million population 15 years old and over in April 2011, approximately 39.7 million were in the labor force, placing the labor force participation rate (LFPR) at 64.2 percent. Among the regions, Northern Mindanao recorded the highest LFPR at 70.6 percent while ARMM posted the lowest at 55.7 percent.

The bulk of employed persons were in the services sector comprising more than half (51.7%) of the total employed population, specifically in the wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles, motorcycles and personal and household goods registering at 19.7 percent of the total employed persons.

A total of 2.9 million persons were unemployed in April 2011, placing the unemployment rate at 7.2 percent, down from 8.0 percent recorded in April last year. There were more unemployed males (64.0% of total unemployed) than unemployed females (36.0% of total unemployed). By age group, five out of 10 unemployed persons were in the age group 15 to 24 years old, while three in 10 unemployed persons were in age group 25 to 34 years old. Across educational groups, most of the unemployed were high school graduates (32.6%). College undergraduates comprised 23.1 percent of the total unemployed, while the college graduates, 20.4

NSO SETS OUT THE 2011 HOUSEHOLD ENERGY CONSUMPTION SURVEY

The 2011 Household Energy Consumption survey (HECS), is a nationwide survey conducted by the National Statistics Office in collaboration with the Department of Energy. This survey aims to collect data on households’ utilization of fuels, supply system and the pattern of energy use and other variables that maybe useful to assess the current energy profiles of different households and communities in the country.

Enumeration begins on September 16 until October 8, 2011 including Saturdays, targeting 4 households per day.

The data collected from this survey shall provide the DOE with updated and reliable bases for an effective household energy strategy for the Philippines. Data collected in 2011 will update the results of the HECS conducted in 2004.

NSO 10 Provincial Statistics Officers of Bukidnon, Camiguin, Msamis Oriental, Lanao Norte and  Misamis Occidental currently undergo second level training at the regional office.

NSO 10 TAKES PART IN THE 111^TH CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION ANNIVERSARY

The Philippine Civil Service 111^th anniversary with the theme: “Championing R.A.C.E.: Public Service Excellence at Full Speed”, takeoff with a parade participated by Cagayan de Oro government offices..

CSC lines up a series of activities for the whole month of September that includes Blood Letting, Inter-Agency Marathon Fun Run, Friend Games Sports events, Trade Fair and Government Express, A Musical show and “Parangal at Pasasalamat” an awarding rites for Regional Awards.

NSO 10 joined the early morning parade and “Hataw” at the Camp Evangelista  in Patag, CDOC, and will actively participate in all CSC events.
